What started as Hyre’s Hog Heaven BBQ has since grown into something profoundly deeper and more meaningful: Hyre’s New River BBQ. This transformation was born from unimaginable loss, following the sudden passing of our son, Cody, at just 28 years old. A true West Virginian, Cody held a special place in his heart for the majestic beauty and resilient spirit of the New River Gorge and its iconic bridge—a spirit we now honor in our name.
Cody was more than just a fan of our cooking—he was one of our greatest supporters. He had a passion for our barbecue sauce and never missed a chance to share it, believing good food was meant to bring people together, whether at a cookout, a tailgate, or a simple dinner. His excitement and pride in our recipes became an integral part of our family’s story and inspired us to continue sharing that same joy with others.
Renaming our business to Hyre’s New River BBQ is our way of honoring Cody’s memory and keeping his spirit alive. Just like the New River runs strong and enduring, his love and enthusiasm continue to flow through everything we do. Every bottle of sauce, every plate of barbecue, carries a piece of his passion for life, family, and community.
